Jack Crisp on missed shot after the siren, interview with Fox Footy after Collingwood’s loss to Geelong, video, record for most consecutive games played
It was the ultimate fairytale moment denied for Jack Crip.
Playing in a record-breaking 245th consecutive AFL game, Crisp marked after the siren in a fairytale opportunity to cap off Collingwood’s incredible late rally against Geelong with a potential match-winning goal on Friday night.
But the left-footed veteran hooked the kick right in a shot that never looked good off the boot to clinch a memorable three-point victory for the Cats in one of the games of the season.

Crisp post-match opened up to Fox Footy on the defining moment that didn’t go his way.
“A lot’s going through my mind,” he said.
“I was feeling pretty happy, content and confident in my ability to kick the goal at the end there. But it wasn’t to be.
“After an emotional week I’m feeling the over from everybody outside football. Pretty exhausted, it would’ve been good to get the win, but credit to Geelong.”
While Crisp misfired the kick, he was instant embraced by Magpies teammates all getting around him in a reaction coach Craig McRae was particularly proud of.
Crisp himself admitted the reception “nearly brought a tear to my eye” in a special night no less, with his wife Mikayla and their three kids in attendance.
“We feel like we’ve built a really good culture like that, we like to celebrate what happens on the field, if we win or lose, celebrate people and their milestones,” Crisp said.
“I definitely felt a lot of love and everyone getting around me, especially Geelong players as well. It did mean a lot, nearly brought a tear to me eye, to be fair, just a special moment.
“Having my wife and kids run on the oval as well was pretty cool.”

The Magpies stormed home with the last two goals in dying minutes, before a holding the ball free kick in the middle of the ground with around five seconds left set up Crisp’s desperation mark just inside 50.
Crisp said some teammates told him “this is what dreams are made of” as the “gassed” 31-year old lined up for goal.
“Then it was just about routine. We practice these scenarios and set shots that often throughout the week,” he said.
“I got the distance easy but it was just about accuracy. I’ll recover now, we’ve got a quick turnaround with a five-day turnaround until Freo (in Perth next Thursday night).
“I was pretty gassed, I had to match Jeremy Cameron, who was rolling around as that extra defender.
“The ball fell in my lap, that was my moment and it wasn’t to be.”
