Big Bash League 2025/26 fixtures, venues, dates, schedule, BBL squads, video, highlights

Cricket Australia has announced the fixtures and venues for the upcoming Big Bash League.

The 15th edition of the T20 tournament gets underway on December 14, with every match to be shown live on Fox Cricket, including 10 exclusively.

On Thursday morning, CA confirmed there would be Big Bash matches on every evening during the regular season apart from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, wrapping up with the decider on January 25.

Perth Stadium will once again host the season opener when the Perth Scorchers take on the Sydney Sixers, while the Sydney Thunder will travel to Hobart for a grand final rematch against reigning champions the Hobart Hurricanes on December 16.

The blockbuster MCG derby has been scheduled for January 4 before the Stars and Renegades lock horns once again the following week at Marvel Stadium on January 10. Elsewhere, the Sydney derbies will take place at Sydney Showground on December 20 and at the SCG on January 16.

The New Year’s Eve clash returns to Adelaide Oval with the Strikers facing the Brisbane Heat, while the Sixers and Scorchers will each host Boxing Day contests.

Marvel Stadium, which drew criticism last summer for its poor playing surface, will only host three BBL matches this season, with Geelong’s Kardinia Park receiving two of the Melbourne-based club’s home games on December 15 and December 21.

Australia’s Test stars haven’t been available for Big Bash finals during the last couple of summers due to international commitments, specifically February’s tour of Sri Lanka and last year’s Frank Worrell Trophy campaign.

However, with no Australian fixtures scheduled between the New Year’s Ashes Test in early January and next February’s T20 World Cup in the subcontinent, the likes of Pat Cummins and Steve Smith should be available for BBL finals pending fitness and workload management.

“We’ve earmarked this season from a while back,” Alistair Dobson, CA’s general manager of Big Bash Leagues, told reporters this week.

“There is a window post the Ashes where those players that are available and contracted and fit and healthy can play some games.

“It will ultimately come down to an individual case-by-case basis for the players, with how they’ve gone through the summer and their recovery.

“But certainly we see a great opportunity for a number of them to come and play the back-end of the season and through the finals.”
