Albanese to wrap up China visit in Chengdu
Anthony Albanese will today visit the central Chinese city of Chengdu as he finishes his six day trip to the country.
The prime minister is keen to emphasise commercial and economic links between Chengdu and Australia – including in the medical technology industry.
Albanese is expected to tour a manufacturing and research centre owned by the Australian hearing implant company Cochlear, as well as meeting other major players in the industry.
Chengdu sits in Sichuan province, which is home to the giant panda and the prime minister is also widely expected to visit a nearby breeding centre for the iconic species.
The visit comes in the wake of China’s move to send two new giant pandas to Adelaide Zoo earlier this year.
