Jordan Bos player of the month, goal of the month, Feyenoord, Socceroos, latest, video, award

Socceroo Jordan Bos has picked up a major accolade, being named the Eredivisie Player of the Month for September.

The 22-year-old left back only joined Feyenoord in July, but has enjoyed a stellar start to life in the Netherlands, becoming the first Australian to ever win the player of the month award in the Dutch league.

Bos previously played for KVC Westerlo in Belgium, who he joined from Melbourne City in 2023, and he quickly cemented himself as a regular under former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie upon making the move to Feyenoord.

The defender received the player of the month accolade courtesy of Opta performance data ranking him as the standout player in the competition.

Bos played three of four league matches in September, sitting one match out after a long trip back to Europe from international duties, for two wins and a draw.

He was part of a defensive unit that kept two clean sheets, while he made six successful tackles and 16 ball recoveries.

He also won 25 duels, ranking third in the league.

Bos’ impact in attack was what caught the attention of most keen onlookers, however.

The Melburnian scored a stunning volley from outside the box to open his account for Feyenoord, and also win goal of the month.

He also provided an assist, and created more chances from open play than any other defender with seven, which was also the number of shots he registered.

Bos’ passing has also been a standout, operating at 88.3 per cent.

Feyenoord are top of the Dutch league at present, but are level on points with rivals PSV, who have played an extra match.

They are also in the Europa League with Bos coming off the bench in 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa during the week.

Van Persie’s side have lost both their European matches so far.
