Family members of 10-year-old Matilda, the youngest victim of Sunday’s mass shooting, have spoken at Bondi Beach.
“We want to spread happiness like [the] smile of my niece,” Matilda’s aunt Lina Chernykh said on Tuesday afternoon.
“All people, just think about your kids here, think about how precious they are, and we hope looking on [Matilda’s] smiling face … just turn to [the] next person and give them a smile, and I hope we can too one day.
“Just remember Matilda like a happy child,” she said, with her son standing by in support.
“She was just happy … full of joy, happiness.”
Chernykh said governments needed to “think about more security for everyone”.

“Doesn’t matter what nationality, what country you’re from. We’re immigrants, you know, I can’t [say] like stop immigration.
“But just be more careful who you take in … sharing values of peace and happiness.
“I don’t hate anyone, I don’t want anyone to be like destroyed or something, I just want people … [to] open their hearts and give peace and love to everyone.
“I think I don’t have tears anymore, like they’ve all gone now.”
