The Dating Show You’re Missing
3.
Clients actually learn about their areas of growth and address them!
Miscommunication can happen at any stage of a relationship, but at the beginning of one? Oof. That can be especially hard to come back from. It is also tough to let yourself get invested, have that moment of wow, I really, really like you, and then realize the other person’s life plan looks absolutely nothing like yours.
By checking in with their clients and reviewing their dates, the matchmaking queens help people identify where communication went sideways and guide them toward resolving it with grace and humor. Clients then take those insights back to their partners and either move forward a little more smoothly or respectfully, well, mostly respectfully, decide to part ways. It is still a reality show, so there are definitely some interesting choices when it comes to how people choose to dump a prospective spouse. Still, these conversations genuinely feel like models you could apply to your own relationships, which is kind of brilliant.
And yes, there is plenty of practical insight to take away from the show, but I promise you also get lots of opportunities to yell at your screen. People show up late to dates, talk way too much about their exes, and occasionally dip into some light manipulation. It is juicy without crossing into the kind of toxic chaos that makes you want to scratch your eyeballs out.
