Sam Konstas could only manage 2 from 4 balls before he was caught by Joel Davies off Jack Edwards.

David Warner struggled to 2 off 7 before he was Jack Edwards’ second scalp of his first over caught by Murphy.

Cameron Bancroft struggled to 7 off 14 before he was caught by Edwards off Joel Davis as the Thunder slumped to 4-45.

Sam Billings smacked three fours and four sixes in his 50 off 26 balls to give the Thunder some hope.

Billings was Edwards’ third scalp caught on the rope by Kane Richardson.

Chris Green made 13 off 11 before he was caught by Murphy to give Davies his second wicket of the night.

Nathan McAndrew came and went for a golden duck with Davies having figures of 3-15 after three overs.

The Sydney Sixers made 5-198 from 20 overs after being sent in by the Sydney Thunder at ENGIE Stadium.

Daniel Hughes looked good blasting five fours in his 25 of 15 balls, before he was bowled by Reece Topley.

Sam Konstas saved a six with a stunning catch and throw back into the field that saved four runs.

“That’s absolutely brilliant from Konstas,” Mike Hussey said.

“I thought that was six for all money.”

Josh Philippe smashed three sixes and two fours in his 18th BBL 50 off just 28 balls.

Babar Azam hit his first 50 in the Big Bash off 38 balls, including five fours and one six.

Azam made 58 off 42, including five fours and two sixes before he was caught behind by Sam Billings to give Topley his second scalp after a successful review.

Ben Dwarshuis was caught on the boundary after he skied one to give Topley figures of 3 for 41.

Sixers skipper Moises Henriques only managed 2 off 3 balls, before he was caught by Konstas to give McAndrew hisfirst scalp.

Philippe fell agonisingly short of a maiden BBL ton after he was caught by Daniel Sams off McAndrew on 96 from 57 balls.

The Thunder have won the bat flip and have sent the Sixers in.
