Rugby League World Cup 2026: Samoa squad, Wakefield Trinity Super League title, Jazz Tevaga, Instagram post, premierships, videos, highlights, schedule
Jazz Tevaga almost didn’t make it to this year’s World Cup.
Wakefield Trinity broke a 58-year premiership drought when they lifted the Super League title after their win over Warrington, with Tevaga playing a crucial role in the triumph.
The Samoan gun was desperate to savour the win and told Code Sports he partied from “Saturday to Tuesday non-stop” until his partner stepped in.

“The missus, she wasn’t too happy, to be honest, because she had to do all the packing,” he explained.
“She literally had to pull me out of the pub because we had the flight (back to Australia) the next day.
“So I was almost this close to pulling the pin on the World Cup because I was so stuck in the parade and celebrations over there.”
The 31-year-old eventually got on his flight and managed to join his teammates in camp ahead of their first clash against France on Friday night.

Tevaga made the decision to depart for the Super League after a nine-year stint in the NRL with the Warriors and the Sea Eagles.
And as aforementioned, he managed to join some of his Samoan teammates as a title-winner — which led to one hilarious Instagram post.
Rugby League Forever posted an image of Jarome Luai, Spencer Leniu, Brian To’o and Stephen Crichton which read ‘15 RINGS’.
That quartet have amassed an impressive NRL premiership haul, with Leniu ticking off the most recent title for the Roosters this season.

Tevaga wanted in on the action, using ChatGPT to re-work the image to include himself and the words ‘16 RINGS’.
“We call them Temu rings… Not as good as the NRL ones, but a ring’s a ring. So yeah, I just thought I’d take the piss out of the boys’ post,” he said.
