Beaver supermoon around the world – in pictures | Science
A bird silhouetted against the full moon rising over Zurich, Switzerland. The beaver full moon gets its name from Algonquin Native American and colonial traditions, as beavers are most active this time of year, fortifying their lodges and building dams in anticipation of the cold months ahead. This particular full moon is also a supermoon, appearing brighter and larger than usual as it is closer to Earth in its orbit
