Morris has suffered a side strain: Cricket Australia
A statement has just come through from Cricket Australia after fast bowler Lance Morris left the field midway through his fifth over.
“Lance Morris sustained a side strain in today’s ODI match against the West Indies in Canberra,” reads the statement. “Morris will have a scan (timing TBC) to determine the extent of the injury.”
Morris wasn’t picked in Australia’s T20 squad for upcoming matches against the West Indies but would have been a chance of being in Australia’s Test squad for matches in New Zealand.
Run-out plunges West Indies into further trouble
Oh dear. This is a debacle.
Matthew Forde is out second ball. He hits one to mid-wicket, sets off down the pitch, but is sent back by Roston Chase at the none-striker’s end. To make matters worse, he slips over. You have to laugh a bit.
Forde isn’t happy as the West Indies lose another. Good spray of his mate. Probably fair enough.
West Indies 7-73
West Indies 6-73 as Bartlett strikes
Xavier Bartlett comes back into the attack and nicks off Romario Shepherd for one. It’s a wider delivery and Shepherd just couldn’t help himself. Easy catch for Inglis.
Bartlett is doing well once again with figures of 2-11 from 5.1 overs. International cricket proving to be a breeze.
Things are going from bad to worse for the tourists who aren’t putting up much of a fight here in Canberra.
West Indies 6-73
‘A poor dismissal’: Zampa grabs Australia’s fifth wicket
Athanaze gets down on one knee and tries to sweep Zampa into the leg side but gets a top edge and is caught for 32 off 60 balls.
That’s half the job done for Australia. They’ll be wanting to go for the kill here. Fielding in the 50th over is worst-case scenario in a game that they want to wrap up as soon as possible.
West Indies 5-71

Injury trouble?
Lance Morris has come off the field halfway through his fifth over.
But the young quick appears to be jogging off the field. We’ll bring you any news on Morris and whether he comes back onto the field.
Will Sutherland will finish the over.
Zampa searching for Australia’s fifth wicket
Adam Zampa is getting into his work now, varying his pace nicely.
The runs have continued to dry up for the Windies. They have managed just 16 off their last five overs.
Adam Gilchrist is concerned by their lack of urgency and desire to put away rare bad balls from this attack.
There is half an appeal at the end of Zampa’s second over but the ball appeared to pitch outside leg.
West Indies 4-63 off 18 overs
Can the West Indies get back into this match?
Morris has his second wicket
Bishop is gone for a duck on debut.
Lance Morris goes a little fuller with this delivery (142km/h) but Bishop plays all around it. Clean bowled sixth ball without troubling the scorers.
Morris has 2-7.
Major drama for the Windies. They’ve lost 3-6.
They are 4-44 inside 13 overs.
Abbott removes West Indies skipper
Australia are right on top in the nation’s capital as Sean Abbott snares his side’s third wicket of the day.
Shai Hope tries to slog one into the leg side but misses it completely. It’s given out on the field but the tourists have reviewed it.
Replays show the ball was hitting leg and middle stump pretty comfortably.
The Windies are in deep strife at 3-43.
Morris strikes with third ball after Labuschagne screamer
Lance Morris has his first ODI wicket and can thank Marnus Labuschagne after a ripper of a catch.
Labuschagne dives high to his right to pluck a brilliant catch out of the air. Keacy Carty is gone for 10.
That’s one of the catches of the summer. A relief for Morris after taking figures of 0-59 on debut in the opening ODI of this series in Melbourne.
West Indies 2-38 off 10.3 overs
