Man arrested over antisemitic remarks at Sydney rally; Hanson fronts Brisbane rally after protesters call to ‘fight Pauline’

In Brisbane, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson addressed a rowdy crowd at a March for Australia event at the botanic gardens in the city’s CBD.

Hanson lamented the 38-degree Queensland day, but told the crowd it was not due to “that climate change rubbish”.

Other speakers at the event included Hanson’s fellow One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts and United Australia Party senator Ralph Babet.

Hanson took to the stage with a large Australian flag, and urged an adoring crowd to become part of her political movement as it surges in the polls.

“They’re only the polls, but they are showing an indication that you are wanting to vote One Nation,” she said, as orange T-shirt wearing party volunteers roamed the crowd handing out pamphlets.

Hanson also took aim at the Albanese government for what she referred to as “mass migration”.

“You’re the one who created this mess, you’re the one who brought all these people into the country – 1560 a day, that’s how many are coming in,” she said, most likely quoting an ABS international arrivals and departures statistic that the bureau itself says should not be used for immigration.

A strong theme of the day was a call to end lobbying to the federal government by foreign lobbyists.

Hanson said she was “disgusted” by politicians she thought put foreign interests ahead of the Australians they represent.

“You know what Don Chipp said? He said, ‘I’m going to keep the bastards honest.’ Well I’ll tell you what, mate, I intend to get rid of the bastards,” Hanson said, quoting the first leader of the Australian Democrats.

Hanson was the target of angry chants at the Invasion Day march in Sydney earlier today, where protesters called on young people to “mobilise to fight Pauline”, as the latest Resolve Political Monitor showed One Nation support has climbed to a record high.
