NRL live updates: Bulldogs vs Knights, Panthers vs Eels, Cowboys vs Storm
44′ Penrith lose captain’s challenge
Liam Martin charged into the line where he met Brian Kelly.
Martin dropped the ball in the tackle and the referee ruled a knock on, but Nathan Cleary challenged claiming there was a strip.
It was deemed a lose carry and challenge lost. Eels on the attack now 20 out.
43′ Kenny sinbinned, Iongi down getting treatment
We are early into the second half and Panthers hooker Mitch Kenny has been sent to the sinbin.
It wasn’t a terrible tackle, but the referee was left with no choice but to send him for a breather.
Isaiah Iongi has been receiving treatment on his ankle since the challenge. Iongi has left the field.
Play goes on.
Secon half is underway
And off we go! Halfway home.
Halftime: Panthers 30 lead Eels 4
Iongi knocks-on a kick that trickles along the ground and Penrith have chance to finish the half in style.
Cleary goes for a banana kick on the last but Addo-Carr cleans it up. The Eels hang on but they have plenty of work to do.
29′ Panthers go back-to-back
This is getting out of control. Penrith roll up the field with ease, Edwards fires a cut out ball to Jenkins, he draws Iongi and finds McLean who scores Penrith’s fifth try in the opening half hour.
Cleary converts and it’s 30-4.
28′ Luck’s a fortune for Penrith
Tuilagi drops it in yardage and Penrith have a chance to replay….and after just a few tackles, they do.
Cleary drifts across field and puts a kick in, it doesn’t look great but it hits the goal-post pads and drops perfectly for Lindsay Smith who scores.
Cleary converts and it’s 24-4 Panthers.
21′ Addo-Carr makes up for a miss
Martin makes an error and gives away a penalty to put Parramatta on the attack. Moses puts a kick in behind and Addo-Carr is there first but To’o juuuust manages to get enough of a touch to knock it out.
But Parramatta get a penalty because Penrith were offside and a few plays later they engineer a nice spread that ends with – you guessed it, Addo-Carr – going over in the corner.
The Eels really needed that one. Moses’ kick goes wide and it’s 18-4 Panthers.
13′ Talagi flies high as tries rain down
Penrith are over again! This time it’s the former Eels, Blaize Talagi – he races after a Cleary bomb and jumps over the top of Iongi before he canters ten metres to score. Pretty spectacular!
Cleary converts and it’s 18-0, Penrith are beating the clock.
11′ Penrith get another
One brings two – this time Cleary squares up the attack nicely and puts Papali’i into half a gap and the backrower charges over to score.
This is looking ominous. Cleary kicks the goal and it’s 12-0.
6′ Yeo crashes over for opening try
Parramatta give away a penalty and Penrith go right to work. Martin nearly pulls through off Cleary, Leota almost does the same via some broken play and on the last Kenny goes short to Yeo who powers over under the posts.
That was a damn statement of intent. Cleary converts, Penrith are up 6-0 early.
And away we go at Parramatta
Penrith kick it off, running left to right.
Penrith’s throwbacks are unreal
If you’re a man of a certain age a collar on a jersey is always going to get your motor running but I have to make special mention of these Panthers 2004 throwbacks.
Sensational stuff.

Match report: Knights beat the odds to ambush Canterbury
Dominic Young scored a hat-trick to help a Newcastle side missing roughly $3 million worth of talent end Canterbury’s unbeaten start to the NRL season in a 24-16 win.
Young grabbed his third career treble as the Knights raced out to a 16-0 halftime lead and then staved off a second-half Bulldogs fightback at Stadium Australia.
Newcastle’s victory was their first this season without the injured star duo of fullback Kalyn Ponga and five-eighth Dylan Brown, while starting prop Trey Mooney was also suspended.
Last year’s wooden spooners, the Knights boast a 3-1 record under new coach Justin Holbrook in what represents their best start to a season since 2020.
The loss will be a wake-up call for Canterbury (2-1) who were way off the pace in the first half and could be without Viliame Kikau, Lachlan Galvin (both hip-drop tackles) and Max King (crusher), who were all placed on report, for Good Friday’s meeting with South Sydney.
The Dogs did the hard part early with King and Marcelo Montoya both crossing the line, but failing to ground the ball in the opening 20 minutes.
Young put the Knights ahead in the sixth minute by burning Connor Tracey and Newcastle were then forced to tough it out when Dylan Lucas was sinbinned for a professional foul.
The Knights survived the period they were down to 12 and then put together a sustained spell of pressure as they forced five goal-line drop-outs.
The injection of Harrison Graham gave the Knights a new dimension and soon after the interchange hooker was thrown on, the Dogs’ resolve cracked as Tyson Frizell strolled over under the sticks in the 33rd minute.
As halftime neared an error from Galvin gave the Knights one last shot at the Bulldogs line with Lucas touching down off a Fletcher Sharpe pass to give Holbrook’s men a 16-0 lead.
The Bulldogs began the second half with much greater purpose with Burton grabbing a double in the space of seven minutes to bring Cameron Ciraldo’s side back into contention.
As they chased a third, Galvin again came up with an error and on the next set Sandon Smith made a break down the right that allowed Young to grab his second.
The English Test winger then intercepted a Tracey pass and ran 70m to score to complete his hat-trick.
Jacob Kiraz grabbed one back for the Dogs with seven minutes left but when Stephen Crichton missed the conversion, the Knights’ eight-point buffer proved too much to overcome.

Final teams: Panthers vs Eels
Just the one change for Penrith with Jack Cogger dropping out of the side and Jack Cole taking his place on the bench.
Parra are as named on Tuesday.
Fulltime: Knights 24 def Bulldogs 16
That’ll do us – Canterbury’s last attack peters out and the Knights secure a strong upset win.
I didn’t see that one coming – my tips are in shambles.
74’ Hope still alive for Canterbury
After getting the ball back from a short kick off Canterbury go on the attack.
Crichton tries to throw a no look, cut out pass, it bounces off Burton’s head and lands for Kiraz.
The pass from Crichton looked forward and I think Kiraz knocked it on but the ref says try!
Crichton’s kick is wide though. The Dogs still trail by eight.
71’ Young snags an intercept for his third
Tracey tries to fire a pass out to Kiraz but Young snaps it up and goes 60 metres to complete his hat trick!
The Englishman has had a huge game and though Smith can’t convert, Newcastle’s 24-12 lead might just be enough.
68’ Best makes a play
A penalty for a crusher puts the Dogs on the attack, they spread right and Tracey seems to have a bit of space only for Best to make a great tackle and force an error.
61’ Knights score a beauty
Against the run of play, Newcastle have scored a ripper.
Smith goes blind front dummy half on his own 40 and puts McEwan away, he draws Tracey beautifully and puts Young over for his second of the day.
Felt like the Dogs had all the momentum but the Knights have some breathing room. Smiths kick is wide but it’s 20-12 Knights.
55’ Burton gets his second
We got a ballgame now – the Dogs are in again.
They roll down the field and on the last, after Galvin gets a quick play the ball, Burton takes them on and goes over from close range. That’s his second in short order.
Crichton converts and it’s 16-12.
