Perth student appears in court over alleged school stabbing
A teenager accused of stabbing a fellow student at a high school in Perth’s north has appeared in court charged with aggravated unlawful wounding.

The 15-year-old appeared in court on Friday, a day after the alleged incident.
The 15-year-old student from Carine Senior High School, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in custody at the Perth Children’s Court on Friday morning.
The student was remanded for a week, with a bail application expected to be heard at the next appearance. Concerns over the student’s mental health were also raised, but it was established the accused would not need to be placed on a hospital order.
Outside court, lawyer David McKenzie told journalists his client was doing much better compared to Thursday when the alleged stabbing occurred.
He said issues raised over accommodation if the accused was granted bail would hopefully be sorted in the coming week.
St John Ambulance crews and police were called to the school around 10am on Thursday. It is alleged the 15-year-old stabbed a 16-year-old fellow student, before causing self-inflicted injuries.

Both students were taken to separate hospitals, but neither of their injuries were life-threatening.
In court, there was a bandage on the 15-year-old’s neck.
