Sparkling Water Recalled at Costco Over Bacteria Risk



Coca-Cola is voluntarily recalling a specific batch of Topo Chico Mineral Water sold at Costco due to possible contamination.

The recall was announced on June 2 after Coca-Cola, Topo Chico’s distributor, identified possible contamination with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a bacteria that occurs naturally in water sources, including mineral water.

The health risks of drinking the water are “very low” in typically healthy people, but those with weakened immune systems may experience “minor health consequences.”

The recall applies to a specific lot of bottled water:

  • Product: Topo Chico Mineral Water
  • Bottle Size: 16.9 oz (500 mL)
  • Pack Size: Sold in 18-packs
  • Lot Code: #13A2541
  • Printed on the case and neck of each bottle

No other Topo Chico or Coca-Cola beverages are involved in this recall.

16.9-ounce bottles of Topo Chico Mineral Water sold in 18 packs were recalled at select Costco stores.

According to Coca-Cola, the affected products were available for purchase between May 20, 2025, and May 29, 2025.
