She asked to stay in the spare room and used one of student A’s shirts to sleep in.
Student A was staying in his bedroom with his girlfriend, who had passed out after drinking alcohol. They exchanged Snapchats, before student A came into the spare room, at which point they kissed.
Several days later, Forgione broke up with her partner before having sex with student A, after which he broke up with his girlfriend.
They had sexual intercourse on three occasions at Forgione’s house over a two-week period from August 8, 2022.
Forgione also continued message student A while his now ex-girlfriend was a student in her class, and the girl even sought Forgione’s advice about the breakup.
Forgione “advised her the relationship break up was OK, that things like this happen a lot and she should move on and forget student A and find a new relationship,” the SAT decision read.
She also told the student she had moved on from her relationship and met another man who was going to teach her how to drive a manual car. The person she was referring to was in fact student A.
Student A told his parents about the relationship on August 20.
During an interview with the Investigations and Compliance Branch on December 13, 2022, Forgione admitted to the wrongdoing.
“Forgione admits that her conduct, described above, constitutes serious misconduct [and is] remorseful for her conduct and understands the significance of her misconduct and the need for there to be a period of suspension,” the decision stated.
However, she told the board she was unaware that the teenager was still a student with the department between leaving school and turning 18.
She was suspended with pay at the start of April 2023, pending the tribunal’s outcome, and has not taught since. The department ended Forgione’s employment in August 2023.
She will not be able to renew her teachers’ registration for three years, starting from February 27, 2024. She has not been registered to teach since June 2023.
