Dave Hughes unleashes on politicians over business class act
Just days after unleashing on the NDIS and the illegal tobacco crisis, Melbourne comedian Dave Hughes has taken to Instagram to bemoan Australia’s politicians.
While flying from Sydney to Melbourne to play a game of footy, Hughesy chose to sit in economy class as usual because “I don’t like to waste money”.
However, as he made his way to his seat he spotted a sight that made his blood boil – a trio of politicians sitting at the pointy end of the plane.
“I walked past three politicians in business class,” the 55-year-old said.
“They don’t care about wasting money.”
Hughesy wrote in a caption over his video, along with the hashtag #AnimalFarm: “Many hard workers on this flight. Some of ‘em on the edge of solvency.”
“They fly economy and walk past all the politicians sitting in business class as the national debt hits a trillion and taxes are raised again. This isn’t going to end well.”
In the caption to his Instagram video, Dave continued his criticism.
“Aus Govt just decided to take even more, via capital gains tax (highest in world), from hard working small business people, who do the gruelling hours, and take the stressful risks, but there won’t be many capital gains, cos the Australian economy will now complete its nosedive, as the incentive to build businesses is extinguished,” he elaborated.
“And the clueless politicians sit there in business class, sipping champagne, while their myriad of assistants type up speeches about ‘fairness’.”
Fans of the comedian widely agreed with his view, with comments on his video ranging from “100% accurate” to “absolutely right” and “Good on you Dave – I agree”.
One commenter wrote: “Hughesy, I never knew you made so much sense. I’m with you. Keep it up.”
While another said: “This content is some of your finest work! Keep going.”
“I’m digging this agitating advocating brand of Hughesy,” a third enthused.
“If this comedy thing doesn’t work out for you, you’d make a great political commentator.”
Earlier in the week, Hughesy unleashed on Instagram about the NDIS and the illegal tobacco crisis, claiming that Australia has been “taken over” by criminal cartels who were running the NDIS like “a cash machine”.
“I can’t remember the referendum where we all agreed that criminal cartels could just take over the country,” he said on social media.
“What are we doing, governments? The NDIS. That’s a cash machine for criminals now. It’s meant to help disabled people. What the f**k’s that about? Why? Why have you let this happen? Are you in on it?”
Hughesy also claimed that “billions and billions of dollars” were going to criminals who firebomb tobacconists “every second of the day”.
“What the f**k are you doing? What’s the point of paying tax when you know it’s going to be stolen by criminals because governments are f**king useless,” he said.
