Peter O’Ryan: police arrest man suspected of triple axe attack
A man has been arrested three days after he allegedly attacked his parents and brother with an axe or hatchet in Gippsland.
Peter O’Ryan, 48, is alleged to have entered his family home in Cowies Road, Tyers, 160 kilometres east of Melbourne, about 12.30pm on Saturday, when an argument began.
O’Ryan is alleged to have first assaulted his brother, then turned on his mother and father, before fleeing the home on foot.
O’Ryan’s mother Janine, 74, father Keith, 76, and younger brother Paul, 47, remain in the Alfred Hospital. On Saturday, police launched a large-scale search of the area but had been unable to find O’Ryan.
On Wednesday, officers were called to reports of a man suspiciously loitering in the vicinity of Tyers-Walhalla Road just before 9pm. O’Ryan will now be interviewed over the incident.
